St. Paul, Minn., March 1st, 2016 — Calyxt, Inc., a Minnesota-based company focusing on developing healthier food products to benefit both consumers and growers, today announced that it has closed on the purchase of a 10-acre parcel in the St. Paul suburb of Roseville to build its new headquarters facility.
The new facility which should be operational around mid-2017 will be comprised of a 35,000 square-foot office and lab building, with greenhouses and outdoor research plots. Due to recent expected growth, the Company is currently hiring for a variety of positions—from scientists to commercial personnel—and plans to have a staff of 60 by the start of 2017, doubling its current numbers.
“The goal of this facility is to accelerate the development of our deep pipeline of solutions that bring health benefits to consumers through various key crops, including soybeans, potatoes, canola, wheat and corn. At the same time, the new facility will allow us to expand our team, which will lead the commercial launch of our existing soybean, potato and wheat products that are already in field trials,” said Luc Mathis, Chief Executive Officer of Calyxt.
“We’d like to thank the Roseville City Council, Planning Commission and Community Development Department, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development and Greater MSP for their guidance and support in the endeavor,” continued Mr. Mathis.
