Calyxt growers: A better business for food and farming
Eating habits have shifted dramatically over the past 20 years, and the demand for natural, less-processed food is on the rise. Today’s consumers seek out food with higher fiber, less gluten and zero trans fats per serving without sacrificing flavor.
At Calyxt, we’re developing high-quality, healthier food ingredients to satisfy consumer needs, such as healthier oils and high fiber wheat, while continuing to breed in the next generation of non-GMO seeds to support our farmers and their operations.
Our cutting-edge breeding techniques provide a more efficient and cost-effective process and, as a result, our farming partners can increase acreage returns by raising value-added crops that consumers desire.
Our specialized process reduces saturated fats in soybeans and soybean oil and eliminates the need for hydrogenation that produces trans fats. In the future, our goal is to use this same technology to help reduce gluten, grow crops with more fiber and address food allergies by naturally eliminating allergens from crops. Other crops in our pipeline include high fiber wheat, high-oleic/low-linoleic soybean, improved quality alfalfa, cold storable potatoes and reduced browning potatoes.
Calyxt growing partners
We are currently contracting with 130 farmers in the Upper Midwest to grow more than 48,000 acres of Calyxt High Oleic Soybean. This domestically produced grain is used to produce our premium Calyno™ High Oleic Soybean Oil. The crops are grown, harvested, processed and sold to U.S. food industry customers under our Identity Preserved Program, a fully-traceable, closed loop system that ensures our crops meet high quality standards and are fully traceable.

What happens to the High Oleic Soybean Meal?
After crushing the soybean to produce Calyno™ High Oleic Soybean Oil, our High Oleic Soybean Meal is sold locally as a premium animal feed ingredient. Local farmers in the Midwest are already using this meal with livestock; the meal was prepared to be sold in parallel with our first Calyno™ customer.
